This and that...

Hi everyone,

Not much to share with you at the moment as I am still so busy with my decluttering.

Very little baking has been done but there have been birthday cakes...

I've also been cooking the same as usual but not really photographing it!

Homemade takeaway! This is my chicken tikka marinade.

The main thing I have been doing is decluttering and recycling where possible. If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that I am a hoarder! I struggle to part with stuff because I may need it one day. I have been looking at old clothes as fabric rather than piles of clothes I need to get rid of. If the fabric is something I can use to make something new then it has been taken apart and stored ready for future projects.

A huge bag of clothes to recycle.

Cut up and folded...even the buttons are saved for my button tin.

The fabric that is unsuitable or stained has been cut up to make rags...most of these have been used already to clean my window frames.

I'm trying so hard not to be wasteful!

I'm going to start really attacking my grocery bill over the next few weeks and I will be sharing my tips here soon. We still spend way too much and I need to change that!

It's good to be back

  1. Those chocolate cakes look delicious, I could just eat a slice with a cup of tea :-). I have 2 shirts and a pair of jeans to take to bits to make a couple of bags, I just need the time to make them! Hubby uses all the soft teeshirts in the garage for polishing cloths. :-)

  2. I look at clothes and see: buttons, rags and quilts or if not too bad a donation

    1. I've just donated a load of books to the British Heart Foundation and normally donate clothes if I can't sell at a carboot sale. I've been looking for ideas of what I can make from old clothes so have saved the lot from my recent declutter. A lot of the clothes were Daisy's but were food stained so no good to anyone. I've removed the grotty bits and will make soft toys from all the scraps. When the carboot starts next month, I will be on the lookout for pretty cotton fabric to make Daisy some bits for summer. I want to see the fabric, not the garment! Taking advice and inspiration from your large men's shirts purchases! X

  3. I am having a battle with clutter, I am doing the kitchen, 1 drawer or shelf a day. The utility is next on the list, then my wardrobe, there is a chiffony dress lurking somewhere that is destined to become at least 2 scarves. I trawl the charity shops for fabric, there ios no cheaper way to buy it.

    1. I've found that's the best way Pam...easier to tackle and I'm more likely to stick at it! I too target one area at a time. When I go carboooting I often see lovely clothes but not in mine or Daisy's size. Now I have the confidence to try alterations for Daisy or to make something new out of larger fabric xx

  4. I've been purging a lot this year but I did not save the clothes I pulled out. I carried most to the thrift shop for fear if it stayed around the house it would get unpacked. I think next time I need to sit down and cut them up like you did and then when cleaning or sewing projects come up I'll be ready. I'm a new follower. Look forward to reading more.
